American Caithness Energy put into operation a 845 MW wind farm in Shepherds Flat in Oregon.

During the opening ceremony of the plant Derrel Grant, Vice President of Development at Caithness Energy said: “This plant is a true example of intelligent energy – energy that simultaneously supports the economy, creates jobs and improves the environment for future generations. By using renewable energy, This plant will enable our country to faster reach energy independence and prosperity of our economy. ”

The farm is located in northeastern Oregon, near Arlington, and it’s one of the largest wind power projects in the world. Besides producing electricity, the power plant will have a positive impact on the environment, since it will annually reduce CO2 emissions by about 1,483 tonnes, the equivalent of removing 260,000 cars off the road. The plant should produce about 2 billion kWh per year, this year will contribute to the US economy with a total of 37 million dollars.
