A Reception Held to Mark the Opening of the Honorary Consulate of Finland

Honorary Consul of Finland in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the President of Assembly of the Center for Education and Raising Awareness of Energy Efficiency – Energis, Fuad Strik organized a reception last night in Sarajevo on the occasion of the Honorary Consulate of Finland in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The reception was attended by guests from the high social, business and political life of BiH, representatives of the Finnish community who live and work in BiH and the international community and diplomatic corps, among them was the High Representative in BiH Valentin Inzko.

Honorary Consul Fuad Strik, welcomed the guests pointing out that his appointment as Honorary Consul of Finland in BiH is an exceptional honor and satisfaction for what he did in his career so far, but also an opportunity to do more.

He pointed out that the function of contributing of this position is the approximation of the two countries and that priority will be given to economic, technological, educational and cultural cooperation, whose resources are not nearly exploited.

Finnish Ambassador to BiH, based in Ljubljana Peka Metzo said that opening of the Consulate of Finland to Bosnia is evidence of cooperation between the two countries, saying that they will work closely on many specific projects which will enable Bosnia and Herzegovina and Finland.

Metzo confirmed the support of Finland to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the implementation of the remaining targets on the path towards the European Union which will be the focus of the Consulate of Finland in BiH.

Energis aims to initiate steps that will lead to an energy efficient future of Bosnia and Herzegovina through continuing education, promotion of innovative and effective solutions, and implementation of community projects that will aim to preserve the environment and natural resources of the country. In this connection, the Honorary Consul and the President of the Assembly of Energis, Fuad Strik will try to transfer good practice from Finland to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
