Active month for Energis

Active month for Energis

After the price shocks that we experienced at the start of the heating season, as well as announcements of new prices, energy efficiency becomes one of the areas where a significant increase in interest has been recorded. After the price shocks that we experienced at the start of the heating season, as well as announcements of new prices, energy efficiency becomes one of the areas where a significant increase in interest has been recorded.

The best example is the successful Energy Efficiency Knowledge Days held on 10 and 11  of November in Livno organized by USAID EEE project. Energis attended the EE Knowledge Days and presented a new concept of promoting energy efficiency, which we shall speak in the future.

Energis’ concept of promoting energy efficiency is based on an interactive and personalized approach to energy efficiency measures, which would allow individuals to choose exactly which of the energy efficiency measures need to be implemented and how to profit from them.

WebAward.Me

Energis.ba has won the WebAward.me prizes for the best green site in 2011 at the national selection of the best web sites in BiH, which is held this year for the third time.

Along with other winners, Energis attended the award ceremony November 21st in Chamber Theater 55 in Sarajevo. This award is an encouragement to the Energis.ba team to continue working on developing the site, with the aim of facilitating access to information on energy efficiency, renewable energy and the environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

SEE Sustainable Energy Regional Networking

The two actions before the end of the month were directed towards empowerment of NGOs, but also the state of BiH in the field of energy efficiency. The first activity is a conference “SEE Sustainable Energy Regional Networking”, which has gathered all significant NGOs to discuss the potential for energy efficiency and renewable energy in various fields with emphasis on transport. The conference was held in Banja Luka on November 25-26 and was organized by the Centre for Environment, Green Action and Front 21/42.

Intelligent Energy Europe

The second activity was a round table on the accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE). Intelligent Energy Europe is a key European initiative on energy efficiency and renewable energy which is responsible for the supervision and co-financing projects that help achieve the EU 20-20-20 targets. A large number of projects in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources in BiH are not enforced because the shortage of funds for their financing.

BiH’s membership in the program Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) opens the possibility of access to financial resources to implement these projects. Special needs for financing projects stems from the fact that a number of municipalities (13) in BiH signed the Covenant of Mayors of European cities (Covenant of Mayors). As a result of access to this Agreement, the municipalities have prepared Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAP) and assumed an obligation to improve energy efficiency by at least 20%, increased use of renewable energy to 20%, and reduce GHG emissions by 20% by 2020 . BiH’s membership in the IEE program would help to bring about the necessary funds to finance projects in the defined strategic documents such as
the municipal action plans for sustainable energy.

All activities in November showed that a greater number of different institutions began to take an increasingly active approach to energy efficiency. Activities may not be related to the implementation itself, but they are necessary as a basis for the actual implementation of energy efficiency measures. Finally, the alignment of attitudes about energy efficiency and forming fronts of organizations, institutions and individuals that will work intensively in the future on the implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
