A five-year sponsorship deal worth nine million Euros with the company “Q.cells” was signed by the current Bundesliga champions, Borussia Dortmund.

This is one of the world’s largest manufacturer of solar energy, based in BitterfeldWolfen, who last year launched its products in 32 countries, and with a total of 2379 employees had a 1.3 billion Euros turnover.

The new partner  will install photovoltaic system on the roof of the stadium SignalIduna-Park, which is Germany’s biggest stadium (capacity 80,720) and will become completely energy independent.

Furthermore, it will generate enough electricity to power surrounding villages and earn money.

The popular “Black and Yellow will, however, not be the first green club in the Bundesliga. Solar photovoltaic system is installed on the roof of the stadium of SC Freiburg.
