In Bosanska Gradiška today was opened first biomass heating plant and only one of its kind in Republika Srpska.

Mayor of municipality Bosanska Gradiška Zoran Latinović said that with this project, realized together with company IEE from Banja Luka, manage to replace expensive fossil fuel with cheaper source of energy – biomass.

Latinović stressed out that there are a lot of advantages of this project.

“Citizens in Gradiška will get heating that is qualitative and continuous and with prices that are currently lowest in BiH” said Latinović. He also said that municipality is liberated now from covering losses from district heating plant which were amounted 1.7 million KM each heating season.

“Covering losses is behind us, now we are going to have annual income between 200.000 and 400.000 KM based on capacities that we have” he said, noting the ecological importance of this project since the emission of harmful gases is reduced.

From this project benefit has local economy because biomass will be bought from fruit growers and others. Director of company IEE Dragiša Zečević pointed out that they get into this project to show that local companies can realize demanding projects in old heating plants. He also said that they will use local resources.
