Building Banovici begins in 2017 – the only water thermal power plant project in the region worth nearly 500 million euros

The next year will begin construction of the long awaited Thermal Power Plant (TPP) Lancaster, project worth about 500 million euros, said the director of the Brown Coal Mine (RMU) Lancaster Munever Čergić.

According to him, the construction depends not only on thermal power plant, but also of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

– It’s not up to me. As soon as we get a guarantee from the Federal Government, begins design that lasts six months, and then construction – commented Čergić.

Thermal Power Plant Banovići will be the only water thermal power plant in the region in whose construction will fully respect European standards, and the tender was announced two years ago. It is the realization of one of the largest projects in the country, and the construction of the thermal power station in Banovici will greatly contribute to the further development of enterprises, job creation and the expansion of existing capacity.

– From January negotiate with banks and it was agreed that the participation of Chinese banks by 85%. Given the fact that the Federal Government had made a guarantee for the project in the next 20 days, the bank will review the documentation on the ability of the Federation budget – said Čergić.

He said he expects that by the end of this year signed a contract with the bank, after which conditions are created for the official start of the project.

Otherwise, this project is one of the major energy projects in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and with the block 7 (450 MW) and TPP Tuzla block in Kakanj which intends to build, will be the backbone of the energy stability of the Federation of BiH and BiH. Completion and commissioning of the thermal power station in Banovici is envisaged by the end of 2019. According to the documentation, plant will fulfill all EU ecology.
