CEZ buys German onshore wind farm, pursues offshore opportunities

December 5 (SeeNews) - Czech utility CEZ AS (WSE:CEZ) announced on Monday it has acquired a 12.8-MW wind park in southwestern Germany from local investment and asset manager AREAM. Commenting on the news, Tomas Pleskac, chief renewables and development officer at CEZ, said that this is the company’s first project in the German renewables market and that it plans to make more such purchases there.

“We are looking not only at already completed onshore projects but also at offshore projects and projects under development,” Pleskac noted.

The company has already reviewed dozens of projects with a combined installed capacity of more than 2.5 GW. In addition, it is looking at suitable opportunities in renewable energy sources in other European countries, it added.

The acquired wind park comes with a 20-year feed-in tariff (FiT) subsidisation contract.
