The Chinese intend to finance the construction of the first solar power plant in Serbia. The city of Kikinda is chosen as the ideal location, because it is one of the cities in Serbia with the sunniest days per year.

Provincial Secretariat for Energy and Mineral
Resources and the Chinese state company CHD have signed a Memorandum of Understanding,
which envisages the possibility of building a solar power plant with the
capacity of 30 MW. Details of the business arrangement will be governed by
separate contracts and agreements, whose production follows early next year.

The exact location of the power has not yet
been determined. The Chinese company as investors will use their own equipment
and technology. The estimated costs are 75-105 million Euros for building the
plant, or 2.5 to 3.5 million Euros per MW.
