With a record of 1.3 million installed PV systems in 2012 solar energy is definitely on the rise in Germany. The increase is a result of a new tax incentives that entered into force, reports Deutsche Welle.

The recent expansion of alternative energy sources has made to the electricity from these sources supplies 8 million households in Germany, which represents a 45 percent increase compared to 2011, confirmed the German Solar Industry Association – BSW.

“Germany is now reaping the rewards of its efforts in solar technology”, said Carsten Kornig CEO of BSW’s.

‘The share of solar energy has quadrupled in the last three years, while the cost of solar systems halved.’

Currently, the share of solar power in the German energy mix of 5 percent of total energy consumption. The Association aims to increase this share up to 10 percent by 2020 and at least 20 percent by 2030.

In 2013, the energy storage system and a modern energy management will become increasingly important.
