Emissions of greenhouse gases in BiH decreased by 17%

Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the Agency for Statistics, recorded a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in the waste sector.

In the period from 2008 to 2015, the level of emissions reduced by about 17%.

According to Eurostat data, from 1990 to 2014, greenhouse gas emissions in the 28 member states of the EU have been reduced by 22.9%. The international community has set the overall goal of reducing global greenhouse gas emissions in order to mitigate the consequences of climate change.

Accordingly, the European Union’s Europe 2020 Strategy defined to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2020 and to 40% by 2030 compared to the level of emissions in 1990. Each EU member state has defined its objectives and monitors their implementation.
