European Union Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is a key event for promoting and spreading the knowledge about energy efficiency and renewable energy, policy and practice through a varied program of events across Europe. Sustainable Energy Week is designed to demonstrate to businesses, decision-makers and the wider public that sustainable energy technologies are viable, cost-effective and good for the environment.

The first EUSEW was held in 2006, and since then 400 events have been organized all over Europe. In April 2011, for the first time the EUSEW event will be held in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which presents a good signal from the country that clearly sees effort being made in this field.

One highlight of the week is the Sustainable Energy Europe Awards ceremony, a glittering event in Brussels which recognizes the best and brightest projects of the past year. More than 250 new projects in categories Communicating,
Learning, Travelling, Producing, Living, and Consuming join each year.

Center for Education and Raising Awareness of Energy Efficiency – Energis will be the first organizer of the European Union Sustainable Energy Week in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources is rapidly evolving; it is not promoted enough in B&H. The EUSEW event in Bosnia and Herzegovina is called “My Future House” – as one of a kind approach to presenting energy efficiency and will be held on the 11th and 12th of April 2011 at the Square of Sarajevo Children (in front of the BBI Center) in Sarajevo where it will present the latest available energy efficiency solutions from the EU.

“My Future House” is based on an educational aspect with highest the technology standards, with the aim to simply present the methods and solutions that significantly contribute to energy savings. Another significant element of the event is to present renewable energy sources that are applicable in average households. The convergence and presentation of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources is essential for larger deployment in Bosnia and
Herzegovina, which is also one of the main tasks of the European Union in this field. Energis is ready to cooperate with all interested entities whose main activity is in line with the theme of the event.

European Union Sustainable Energy Week is EU’s largest and the most important event oriented toward promotion and raising awareness of energy efficiency and renewable energy. The goals of the EUSEW event in Bosnia and Herzegovina are:

  • Raising the profile and improve the image of organization, town and country;
  • Being part of a European campaign;
  • Turning Sarajevo into a frontrunner in energy efficiency promotion;
  • Attracting media attention and pushing an issue of energy efficiency into headlines;
  • Energizing local community in order for their endorsement for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects;
  • Helping local companies expand into fast-growing green energy markets and presenting them EE and RES options;
  • Innovating and setting a new direction for energy efficiency promotion;
  • Making it easier to attract investment into sustainable energy projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina;
  • Getting additional visibility and support from EUSEW Brussels.
