First Solar Inc. completed construction of a 52.5-megawatt solar power plant in Jordan that will account for about 1 percent of the country’s energy capacity.
The Shams Ma’an plant is owned by Diamond Generating Europe Ltd., Nebras Power QSC and Kawar Group, Tempe, Arizona-based First Solar said Sunday in a statement. A cost estimate wasn’t provided.
The plant has a 20-year power-purchase agreement with Jordan’s National Electric Power Co., First Solar said.
Jordan is expected to reach 310 megawatts of installed photovoltaic capacity at the end of this year, up from 50 megawatts in 2015, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance.
