Germany has set yet another impressive record in production and consumption of electricity from solar energy.

Solar energy in Germany grew by 50% compared to the previous year, the national solar resources have reached a phenomenal 14.7 TWh of production in the first six months of 2012. It is the satisfaction of even 4.5% of German energy needs.

In 2011, the German photovoltaic sector produced 19 TWh of electricity in a year, while in the first six months of 2011 produced only 5 TWh. For the huge jump in production was primarily responsible constant and growing every day installation of photovoltaic systems across the country.

Thus, in just four months, the Germans installed a new 73,756 PV systems around the country, a new springing up every week. Total power of the new system is 2,328 MW. German residential and commercial sector already have the 1.2 million active photovoltaic power plants installed in the past few years.

In 2012, Germany will reach a total of 28 GW of installed power from photovoltaic systems and remain visible leader in the development of clean energy. Thanks to Germany, solar energy will become the third source of renewable energy, and if other countries decide to follow the German example, soon could even overtake and wind power and biogas.
