The value of investments in the energy sector of the Republika Srpska in the next twenty years will amount to about 11.5 billion KM; envisioned by the energy strategy draft of RS by 2030. This important strategic document, following public hearings and consideration of suggestions of interested parties, will be forwarded to the Government and the National parliament of this entity for approval.

The aim of the strategy is to provide the necessary amount
of energy to the economy and citizens at economically viable prices, taking
into account the problem of energy poverty, gradually opening the energy market
and create conditions for investment in the energy sector.

Regarding the electricity sector, full market opening is
planned from 1 January 2015, and the goal is to meet production needs in the
area of the RS and export “surplus” to other systems.

“The most important renewable energy sources in use are
hydro energy or energy in large power plants and wood for heating in
households. The potential for the development of hydropower is significant and
largely untapped. Having this in mind, the emphasis is on building small
hydropower plants,” announced by Ministry.

Also, there is significant potential for wind energy, solar
energy, agricultural biomass and geothermal energy, which is now not used.
