Conference on “Energy Efficiency in Construction” held within the EU Sustainable Energy Week in Sarajevo on 12 April 2011 has gathered a large number of Bosnian experts in the field of architecture, construction, mechanical and electrical engineering.

Speakers at the conference were Professor Ljubomir Mišcevic of Architecture, University of Zagreb, and Mr. Harald Heuwieser member of the Passive House Institute in Vienna. The passive house standards as well as a broader picture of trends in the movement of energy efficiency and environmental protection were presented at the conference.

Introductory presentations were given by Mr. Erdal Trhulj, Minister of the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining & Industry and
Mr. Fuad Strik in front of Energis – the organizers of the EU Sustainable Energy Week in BiH. Mr. Trhulj and Mr. Strik agreed that energy efficiency and renewable energy must play an important role in the Energy Strategy of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to promote these measures and the possible effects of presentation is the first step towards implementing this strategy.

Conference participants were asked to anonymously grade the conference. 135 of 229 participants graded it. The analysis shows that over 45% of participants given grade A +++, which confirms the actuality of the best quality of speakers and topics. Scores are ranked in the model of energy certification of the European Union, including the largest rating A + + + and the lowest D.
