In Zeleni Jadar in the municipality of Srebrenica, the pellet factory “EKO-M” d.o.o. in Srebrenica has started working recently. The company was bought from the first owner by Marius de Wilt from Holland.
Marius de Wilt has been engaged in renewable energy and energy saving for several years now, which is why he decided to manufacture pellets in Srebrenica.
The negotiations with the first owner of the pellet factory took five years, so that from June 10 the factory is in the personal property of Marius de Wilt, who employed in the first stage 35 workers from Srebrenica.
“Our plan is to regulate the factory in the existing capacity, to sort out problems with filters because they are a very small investment. We are in the process of obtaining environmental permits, thanks to the local government the process is going pretty fast,” said Marica Simic, deputy director of the company, “EKO-M” d.o.o. for the portal of the Municipality of Srebrenica.
Marius de Wilt expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with the Municipality of Srebrenica and stressed that the local government helped him to complete certain procedures as soon as possible, but currently there is a problem with the water supply, the existing pipes in the ground are cracked so they hope that this problem will soon be resolved.
The current production of the plant is 25 tons in 24 hours, a ton of pellets per hour. In the future, it is planned to double the amount of production, they will install another press with the capacity of 25 tons. They purchase wood from the Forest Estate “Drina” in Srebrenica, and according to the needs, also from people dealing with felling and selling wood. Annual demand for wood of the company amounts to about 40,000 cubic meters, and the main product will be found on the Italian market.
“To begin with, we have hired 35 people, in the meantime, we will pull 50 people from the employment office and retrain them. We hired people of different ethnicity, those who really need a job. Politics, religion, nationality are not of our concern, just work,” said Simic.
The plan of the company is offer cooperation to the institutions, such as schools in Srebrenica, Srebrenica Municipality, the Municipal Court, and replace the existing boilers so that the buildings use the pellet heating system, which would make the company a major supplier of the energy.
The next step of the company, in addition to the production of pellets, is the euro pallets that are highly sought after abroad, and they have the conditions for the production. The factory has its own steamer and dryers for wood. This move will employ another 15 workers, the company plans to hire 50 people by the end of the year.
What the owners of this company promise is that workers will have high earnings, they will respect the obligations to workers and in particular, they will provide protection at work, as published on the website of the Municipality of Srebrenica.
