Planet Earth day is commemorated all over world on 22nd April. The tradition of commemorating this day dates back to 1970s and in 1990 this day became international day of planet Earth.

Conservation of nature and natural resources is the key for life development on earth and because of human activities current rate of species extinction is 1000 times higher than natural.

Uncontrolled production and consumption of energy from fossil fuels creates large losses and enormous air, water and soil pollution and rapid impact on climate change. According to the information from World Bank in Bosnia and Herzegovina energy costs grow up to 30% of monthly income of most households. In addition Bosnia and Herzegovina spends four times more energy per unit of product (GDP) from 25 European Union countries and more than twice from the world average.

Climate changes have major impact on human health and that impact will exponentially grow over time. These changes lead to extreme coldness and extreme heat waves, floods, droughts, landslides and increases of infectious diseases.

Therefore, EFEKT network appeals to the responsible decision-makers at all levels of authority to urgently create conditions for the creation of environmentally acceptable energy sector.

This planet does not have as much time as we think. Stop the destruction of natural resources and enormous environment pollution through proper management of energy, using energy efficiency measures and use of renewable energy sources.
