In the period 2007 - 2015 the world's power hydropower increased by 30% and reached 1,209 GW
As reported by the American hydropower portal ‘HydroWorld.com’, referring to the report “World Energy Resources 2016” World Energy Council (WEC), the power of hydroelectric power plants in the world in the period 2007 – 2015 increased by 30% and reached 1209 GW. In this 145 GW of waste pumped hydro storage.
At the same time, as pointed out, hydropower is the leading renewable source of electricity in the world, from which now derives 71% of total electricity produced from renewable sources.
In addition, it should be added, and hydroelectric power plants on the sea waves and tides, whose total power in the world today is 0.5 GW, but at different stages of realization in the course of numerous projects whose total rated capacity reached 1.7 GW, with 88% is hydroelectric power plants on the tides.
