Regional Cooperation on a Project of Energy Efficiency in Buildings

Recently, a regional project “Inter-sectoral cooperation in financing energy efficiency in buildings within the EU regulations and legal agreements – EUbuild ENERGY EFFICIENCY” was promoted in Sarajevo. The project is funded grants from the EU program IPA SEE Socio-economic partnership.

The project leader is IMSAD – Association of manufacturers of building materials of Turkey, while the Bosnian partner in the project is the Sarajevo Canton Chamber of Commerce. Other partners are the European Council of producers of construction materials from Belgium, Center for Energy Efficiency Albania, Center for Energy Efficiency of Macedonia, Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and Association of Employers of Montenegro.

The planned activities include research government incentives and mechanisms for financing energy efficiency in building and organizing round tables for different target groups in all partner countries and EU, as well as study visits and international conferences devoted to this subject.

“The aim is to contribute to the development of instruments and mechanisms for financing energy efficiency in buildings in order to build a market for energy efficient products and methods in the partner countries”, said Rusmira Mandić, the project coordinator for Bosnia.

Ms. Mandic also referred to the results of the project that was successfully implemented by the Chamber “Developing and improving the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises in the field of energy efficiency”, the activities of the Center for Energy Efficiency and the current status of energy efficiency in buildings in Canton Sarajevo and the state.
