ŠAROVIĆ: The biggest benefits of the reforms in the energy sector will have the consumers

Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Sarovic said today that BiH is only on the starting point when it comes to the liberalization of the electricity market and that a long road of reforms is ahead that will benefit the energy sector, but most consumers.

Sarovic said that BiH in the past two years has made progress when it comes to the regulatory framework for electricity, but delayed due to the complexity of the system and the slow pace of decision-making in relation to neighboring countries, which makes it inferior to the global market.

He at the conference “Opportunities and challenges for commercial consumers of electricity”, which was organized in Sarajevo British Embassy in BiH and the British company Alfa Energy Group, pointed out that in the past two years the focus of the Ministry of the regulatory framework and the transposition of European directives is in the electricity.

– There are also efforts to make up for lost when it comes to obligations towards the Energy Community and, of course, the liberalization of the electricity market in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is the central theme of this conference – said Sarovic.
