Minister of industry, Energy and Mining of Republic of Srpska Petar Đokić has officially opened and put into operation solar power plant with power of 240 kW which is located within thermal power plant Ugljevik.

Minister praised work of thermal power plant and their commitment to engage to the world trends of producing electricity from renewable energy. He also reminded that this thermal power plant produces about 30% of Republic of Srpska electricity.

The engineer Miroslav Gavrić told reporters that this solar plant is made for own needs of thermal power plant and that there is plan to make bigger solar power plants on degraded land of coal mines.

He also reminded that company must use degraded soil after exploitation and building solar power plants on such soil is one of the options.

Solar power plant is designed to produce 330,000 kWh per year. Investment was half million BAM.

Gavrić told that this location has Sun radiation of 1,300 kWh/m2 per year which makes it one of the best location in Republic of Srpska.
