According to the public power supply company Elektroprivreda BiH (EP BiH), currently, the grid takes in electricity produced by two solar power plants. The electricity produced by the power of the sun in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) in the first half of this year generated revenues of about 5,000 convertible marks (KM), reports the Center for Investigative Reporting (CIN).

According to the company, since March of this year in the grid takes electricity by two solar power plants. The first installed on a sports hall in Kalesija, owned by Selmir and Sadik Fatić (Eco Energy doo from Kalesija), and as of June from the solar power plant “Bicakcic 1” which is owned by Edhem Bicakcic (“Bicakcic” from Sarajevo).

The solar power plant feed in energy worth 5,132 KM, and Bicakcic in the amount of 93.25 KM.

Highly demanded goods

Bicakcic, a former Federal Prime Minister, says that the energy produced from renewable sources will be in demand in the future.

“It is very important to approach the market of green carbon certificates”, said Bicakcic and explained that this would mean additional profit as an incentive to reduce carbon dioxide in the air.

In relation to the previous year, this year has increased the purchase price of energy produced from renewable sources – water, sun and wind – and now amounts to 0.12 € / kWh, or two pfennig more than in previous years, according to Aljazeera Balkans.

Funds to pay for renewable energy will be charged through the account that final consumers are issued for consumed energy.

Small hydro power plants

24 small hydro power plants (SHPP) are connected to the grid, which in the first half of this year collected 4.1 million KM for about 33 GWh of electricity produced.

Currently, SHHP Majdan, owned by Intrade-Energija Ltd, produces the most electricity and made profits in the first half of the year of 427,233 KM.

This small HPP is located on the river prawns in central Bosnia.

The least power currently provides a SHP Hum, which is owned by the company Eskimo S 2 Ltd. from near Travnik.

Returning to the budget

According to current laws on concessions, based on which the mini hydro plants constructed and put into operation, some of that money should be returned to the budget as payment of concession fees.

The performance audit “management concessions of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, that is the Audit Office of the Federation published in April last year, it was stated that the collection and control of the concession fees have not yet been satisfactory, states Aljazeera Balkans.

The records on collected concessions should be guided by the Canton Ministry of Finance.

According to data of the Federation of concession, not a single concession to develop hydro power was not given to the level of BiH. entities, but at the cantonal level.
