The biggest fair of the solar industry, Intersolar, held in Munich between 8 and 10 June 2011 has proved its reputation that determines the trends in the solar industry.

Intersolar awards the most innovative companies in three categories: photovoltaic systems, solar thermal energy, and manufacturing processes of photovoltaic systems. These categories include the three most important segment of the solar industry and thus to promote innovative solutions in each of them.

Companies were able to register their innovations between 15 February and 1 April 2011, where 129 companies from 15 countries worldwide registered. Solutions that have entered the shortlisted nominees for the award represented a completely new innovation in the field or innovation that will significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of existing systems.

Innovations that have received awards in the category of photovoltaic systems show that the industry is working hard to increase the efficiency of solar panels, but also to significantly account for the use of solar energy in transportation purposes. The winners of this category are: Autarcon GmbH, a unique system of using solar energy water supply in remote locations; BELECTRIC Drive GmbH for a system that maximizes the use of solar energy to power electric cars and Aluminium Feron GmbH & Co. to develop more efficient photovoltaic thin films that are crucial for the production of electricity.

Winners in other categories also presented solutions that will become the industry standards in the next period, which is why solar energy will have greater significance. Winners in the category of solar-thermal energy were:
Absolicon Solar Concentrator AB, Dr. Vetter Medizinische Gesellschaft für Datentechnik, Bio-und Umwelttechnik mbH, Savo Oy-Solar and Hydro Aluminium Precision Tubing. While the winners of the categories of manufacturing processes of photovoltaic systems were: Decker Anlagenbau GmbH, Manz Automation and AG NanoFocus.

About Intersolar

Intersolar is a series of fairs that are held on three continents: North America (San Francisco, USA), Asia (Mumbai, India and Beijing, China) and Europe. Intersolar Europe is held annually in Munich, Germany, and is the biggest fair for all forms of exploitation of solar energy with emphasis on photovoltaic systems.
