The great potential of the energy sector – EIB invests another € 2 billion in the Western Balkans

The head of the Presidency for the Western Balkans, the European Investment Bank (EIB) Dubravka Negre said today at a conference BEES 2016 "How to attract new investments in the energy sector - a projection to 2020" in Belgrade that the request of the European Commission that the bank increases activities in the Western Balkans through the so-called initiative for economic and social framework which should increase in this part of Europe.

– We have a new mandate to finance a number of projects and in a larger amount, and we plan to launch additional 2 billion in the next four years in the Western Balkan countries. These funds will be combined with the grant – she said.

The focus will, among other things, be on energy projects.

The conference, which was attended by representatives from more than 20 countries, was held with the institutional support of the Ministry of Mining and Energy of Serbia and the Serbian Chamber of Engineers.
