The world’s largest solar facility, built using Austrian technology was opened in Saudi Arabia, and will allow the Princess Noura Bint Abdulrahman University in the use of hot water.

The plant was built by the Austrian companies GREENoneTEC and AEE Intec, at a cost of 3.6 million Euros, while at the site a total of 36 000 square meters of solar panels were installed.

After a six-month probationary period that began in late 2011, the facility became operational late last week, according to Austrian companies.

This location is almost twice size of the previously largest solar facility that was located in Denmark. The construction of the new systems are built with special materials and structures that enable the work despite sand storms.
