TRANSCO Submitted a Request to Modify Tariffs: Possible Increase in Electricity Prices

After cognition that “Elektroprenos BiH” (TRANSCO) forwarded a request to State Regulatory Agency for Electricity – SERK to modify the tariffs for electricity transmission services, Ombudsman for Consumer Protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued recommendations, ex officio, about consulting representatives of consumers in the process of determining new tariffs for electricity transmission services. After cognition that “Elektroprenos BiH” (TRANSCO) forwarded a request to State Regulatory Agency for Electricity – SERK to modify the tariffs for electricity transmission services, Ombudsman for Consumer Protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued recommendations, ex officio, about consulting representatives of consumers in the process of determining new tariffs for electricity transmission services.

Recommendations are addressed to Elektroprenos BiH and to the State Regulatory Agency for Electricity and reason for their adoption is to ensure the criteria of effective consultation and representation of consumers in decision-making process, as required by Consumer Protection Law in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Elektroprenos BiH is advised to immediately review and to justify request for new tariffs, especially in the part resulting in an
increase in electricity prices for households.

The Ombudsman considered that it is significant to adopt and implement those recommendations in order to ensure the protection of collective rights and economic interest of consumers of electricity, announced from Ombudsman Office.
