Tonight, millions of people around the world will contribute to the preservation of our planet by turning off their lights in residential and commercial buildings, turning off street lights and lighting in buildings. The cities Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Livno, Bugojno and Mostar will participate in the “Earth Hour” initiative. A central celebration will be held at the Old Bridge in Mostar where its lights will be turned off followed by a small concert.

Tonight, millions of people, regardless of race, religion and culture, will unite by turning off their lights in order to protect the only thing that unites us – our planet.

Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will participate in action aimed at raising awareness about climate change, excessive consumption of earth resources, energy efficiency and environmental issues in general.

The campaign was launched in Sydney in 2007 when two million people turned their lights off.  By 2010, “Earth Hour” has entered history as the largest global volunteer action ever organized with 128 countries participating and more than a billion people from all continents including the world’s most famous buildings and natural wonders.

WWF is one of the largest and most respected global organization with nearly five million admirers with a global network that is active in more than 100 countries around the world.

WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of Earth’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature, preserving biodiversity and ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable, promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.
