The authorities have decided to put an end to crazy spending of electricity in luminous advertising regulation that requires turning off at night.

Excellent decision rendered the French Ministry of Ecology to save a large amount of electricity that is now wasted on illuminated advertisements. From July 1st all illuminated advertisements in France will turned off from 1 to 06 am.

As announced by France’s ecology minister Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, this decision is part of the new plan that aims to accelerate energy savings triggered by the nuclear disaster that occurred nine months ago in the Japanese city Fukushima and the constant growth of energy prices.

Turning off the light commercials during the night throughout France should provide electricity savings equal to the annual consumption of 260,000 households.

Ministry of Environment has also proposed a measure of “the mandatory shutdown of external and internal lighting in offices”. Should this be adopted France will have electricity savings equal to one million households.
