Mid-August is deadline for completion of installment of LED traffic lights in Tuzla. Beside their obvious visual enhancement and better visibility, this system will significantly lower energy costs.

Total value of this project is estimated at 180.000 KM and it includes all traffic lights in the city.

Municipality Tuzla annual expense of operating traffic lights is in excess of 50.000 KM.

This project is co-funded by United Nations Development Programme and Municipality Tuzla with equal funding. “With this project we anticipate installment of 71 traffic light fixtures on the main roads, which will produce significant savings. Respecting the fact that LED fixtures lower electricity consumption, we estimate that savings in the first year could be as high as 40.000 KM” staded Kemal Kureviæ, Head of utility affairs of Municipality Tuzla. In next period, municipality plans to install LED public lighting. With this project Tuzla will follow example of major European cities, which introduced energy efficiency as daily routine, quotes News agency FENA.
