The heating season in Bosnia and Herzegovina is slowly coming to the end and it is time to sum up the costs of energy. We have witnessed that all fuel prices have significantly increased from the previous year and significantly exceeded last year’s forecasts.

Thus, the gas price increased by 22%, oil 19%, petrol by 20%, while the price of wood for heating broke the limit of 70 KM per m3. In addition, the rising cost of basic goods actively influence the purchasing power of the population not only in Bosnia
and Herzegovina.

The logical conclusion is that we have to economize, and the good news is that we can save energy without significantly compromising the comfort that we are accustomed to. With small changes in consumer habits and energy efficiency measures we can halve the energy costs.

The EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) will be held in Sarajevo from 11 – 12 April aims to present the latest trends in energy efficiency which generates significant savings with a focus on the passive house standard.

By adopting the passive house standard we can reduce current consumption by tenfold, thus the energy costs were negligible part of household budgets. More information on passive houses as well as the EU Sustainable Energy Week can be found here.
We invite all citizens to visit the central marking of the EUSEW at the Sarajevo Children Square Sarajevo, in front of the BBI Center.
