Wind, solar farms produce 26.8% of Spain’s 9-mo power

Wind and solar parks produced 26.8% of Spain’s power in the first nine months of 2016, but just 20.1% in September, according to provisional data released on Friday.

The total renewable energy share in the power mix was 45.3% in January-September, but just 30% in September alone, shows a report by grid operator Red Electrica de Espana (REE). More details are available below.

In September wind parks generated 2,683 GWh, down by 10.6% year-on-year. Peninsular Spain’s total power demand for the month stood at 20,832 GWh, while in the eight months it amounted to 187,810 GWh.
